My garden is a full palette of color in June. Perhaps part of my hunger for color and beauty is an attempt to store up some reserves in my soul for the dormant season.
Nature is extravagant with seed-planting, spreading seeds on the wind. I spread seeds in particular spots, sparingly, where I have loosened the soil, added some compost, and expect them to grow.
The flowerbeds at church were in need of deep cleaning, to remove a jumble of weeds and perennials. It was hard to take out plants that were ready to bloom, but necessary for the long-term flourishing of the garden. Sometimes my soul needs a deep cleaning too ...
