November is the season of falling to the ground and dying. Dead flowers are dropping their seeds into the ground. So even in the midst of the season of decay and death, there is the potential for next year's life.

Summer is certainly over in the garden. But I can embrace the now rather than regretting what is past. Today I purposely walked around the garden, noticing the distinct fall flowers.

I did deep weeding in the back garden - even though I won't do anything with the space until spring. ... The long view of life practiced in gardening is why the lessons I learn in nurturing my garden are so applicable to the nurturing of my soul.
